Curacao U-20 in difficult position in Caribbean Qualifiers U-20
First match day
Hosts Trinidad & Tobago and Cuba took all three points in the first two games of Group A in the Final Round of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) 2014 Men’s Under 20 Qualifiers which started at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, in Trinidad and Tobago today, Friday September 12.
Cuba clipped Curacao 1-0 while Trinidad &Tobago defeated Suriname 2-1. Eddy Luis Saname netted the lone goal for Cuba in the 51st minute after a keenly contested first half ending the game 1-0. Meanwhile, Trinidad & Tobago came from behind to edge out Suriname 2-1. Suriname went ahead in the 5th minute with a goal from Ricardo Orveo Faerber in the 5th minute.
Trinidad & Tobago wasted no time and responded in the 27th minute when Andre Fortune equalized ending the first half 1-1. In the 78th minute of the game Trinidad and Tobago found the clincher ending the game 2-1.
Second match day
Trinidad and Tobago blanked Curacao 4-0 to lead Group A in the Final Round of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) 2014 Men’s Under 20 Qualifiers today Sunday, September 14, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, in Trinidad and Tobago.
Suriname also won their game by clipping Cuba 1-0 at this same venue. Scoring for Trinidad and Tobago were Jabari Mitchell in the 33d minute, Kadeem Corbin in the 45th minute from the penalty spot and in the 60th minute from a direct kick, and Aikim Andrews in the 84th.
Ricardo Orveo Faerber scored the all-important goal for Suriname in the 45th minute to land his team three points in this prestigious competition.
