National selection U-20 in full preparation mode
With the arrival of seven players from abroad on Wednesday July 23rd, the national selection U-20 was complete and the staff immediately started the integration process with the local players. The selection is in preparation for the U-20 WC Qualifiers Round 1 on Curacao from July 30th till August 3rd.
Preparation mode means training of course, and friendlies with local senior teams. Saturday 26 the staff, under the expert guidance of technical director Etienne Siliee, took the team out and about for a team training with mental and physical challenges. First, the team had to run op to Fort Nassau in relay and hoist the Curacao, FIFA and Fair play flags.
Next challenge was in Scharloo and also involved the flags but now the team had to manifest themselves in public. They did very well and interacted openly with the public and posed for pictures with youngsters. A challenge on trust and communication took them blindfolded through the old market and caused some hilarity with the unsuspecting public and shopkeepers.
Next stop was at the Jan Thiel salt lakes. Now map-reading and endurance were on the agenda. Here too the players had the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership qualities and team spirit. Last stop was cool down, both physically and mentally at Zanzibar with some swimming and foot volley for the selection whilst the staff evaluated their observations….
