Etienne Siliee at World Cup for KNVB WorldCoaches

FFK’s technical director Etienne Siliee has been participating in KNVB’s WorldCoaches project in Brazil. He joined the KNVB team for a series of clinics with the Ambassadors Pierre van Hooijdonk and Aaron Winter. The events are part of the KNVB’s broader social legacy project.

Prior to the tournament, around 200 coaches were trained in the host cities of the Netherlands team and in Rio de Janeiro. The WorldCoaches program trains coaches not only in soccer coaching skills, but also so-called life skills. Through life skills coaches can guide and educate children about important social issues that children face in daily life. Etienne Siliee is one of the WorldCoaches instructors and train-the-trainers.

In addition to organizing clinics, the KNVB has donated an artificial turf mini-football pitch to a public school and the community of the surrounding favelas in the city’s Santa Teresa district. After the World Cup, the mini-pitch and the running track around it will be handed over to the Dutch Olympic Committee NOC*NSF and its partners. They will use it as a venue for social activities during the 2016 Olympics.

The Dutch Royals King Alexander and Queen Maxima also were in Brazil and met with some of theWorldCoaches and were informed about the project.
